Turkey: Izmir
The Turkish metropolis on the west coast with about 3 Mil. inhabitants "residents" is the third-biggest town "city" of Turkey and has to Istanbul the second largest commercial harbour and an own airport, situated "convenient" approx. 15 kms beyond the city. It is therefore beside Istanbul the most important ship journey and transport interchange of Turkey. Izmir is respected culturally as the most modern and putrid-brightest town "city" of Turkey. Izmi, the old Smyrna, with pleasure as the " pearl of the Aegean Sea " designated "marked", was founded in the 3rd millennium B.C. and is with it "thus" one of the oldest "eldest" towns "cities" of the world. In the antiquity the town "city" Izmir was a center of the Christian world, but also the most important commercial space of Asia Minor. Home, the poet of the Iliad, should have been born here.
